Random things no one cares about by IndecisiveH2O on Sat Oct 25, 2008 3:56 am
This is a blog. Nothing really happened I just felt like posting a blog entry. Anywho... I live in a house, I like grape juice, I have a computer, and I think being vague is almost as fun as that other thing. I have two knees and a face...and I wear glasses. My mama does not wear army boots. I am not a weeble for I fall down a lot. I ate pizza for lunch today and french fries. I don't have a favorite animal or a favorite color. I have far to many nicknames and I have been called some very strange things. Finally my word of the day is repartee.

splitting the difference by devequeandrais on Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:21 pm
I know that most of us have heard of "self Publishing" you pay to have the book printed, and selling it falls squarely on your sholders. Sucks doesn't it? Because we want to be writters, not sales people. So we can find someone that basically buys our work, and takes the risk of printing and selling the book. Or we take the risk ourselves. But is there something in between? You bet there is. It's called subsidy publishing. Now there is a risk that the author takes, but there is also a benefit. They work on selling the book to other venues. For example Vantage Press.

Believe it or not I found out about this place while waiting to get my hair cut. You would be amazed at where you can find things. Simply keeping your eyes open can show you options on how to reach your goals!

Dr. Horrible by nilamo on Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:58 am
It's official: I really like Dr. Horrible. http://www.drhorrible.com/

It's been taken off the web, but I saw all I needed to see. This movie is hilarious, even if it is only 45min long. I've obtained all three acts, so in my (gratuitous) amounts of free time, I plan on combining them, together with a few extra goodies, into a single video. It'll be fun, I've never played with video before.

Anyone else see this film?

Best Advice from Andrea

After 25 years as an agent, I have discovered the "5 P's of Publishing Success." If followed, they work and you will have success in the publishing business. The first is "Passion." You need the passion to write—whatever it is—and it gets you up at six am before work or keeps you up late into the evening. As Isaac Asimov said," I write for the same reason that I breathe—because I have to." The second "P of publishing success" is Product. You have to write something worth selling. Don't write if you have nothing to say. Make sure your project or product is the strongest it can be. Third is Patience. You need lots of it in this business. It may take years to get your work published. Persistence is the fourth "P." Please, don't give up after several rejections. Rejection is a part of this business and you must develop a thick skin. I have seen many talented writers never get published because they gave ...
